Christopher Chanco brings over eight years’ experience in peacebuilding evaluation, media support, and the international civil society sector. Christopher has contributed to numerous evaluations on behalf of UN agencies and multi-donor trust funds including the World Bank Group’s State and Peacebuilding Fund, the Red Cross, the World Food Programme, and the Multilateral Organization Performance Assessment Network (MOPAN).

He has notably contributed to strategic evaluations of the programmes of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) in the Sahel and West Africa. He has brought to these mandates expertise in the dynamics of democratization and aid localization, as well as skills in qualitative research and methodological design (ex. surveys, cartographic analysis, policy analysis, archival and participatory research methods, AI development).

Christopher has expertise in the following areas -- peacebuilding, forced migration, civil society, media support, and human rights – as well as working knowledge of international law and European institutions. With experience in diverse professional sectors, he has intimate familiarity with the dynamics of overseas development assistance, particularly in fragile contexts. Before joining Universalia, Christopher was based at the Global Forum for Media Development, a network of aid agencies and civil society organisations working to support independent media in developing countries.  His interest in international development goes back to the Philippines, his home country, where he worked for the Civil Society Partnership for Development Effectiveness. His engagements in the civil society sector also exposed him to the realities of ethnoreligious conflict and forced migration in the Southern Philippines.

A journalist by training and calling, Christopher also gives workshops on media literacy and disinformation. He works fluently in English, French, and Tagalog.
