BridgeNorth is a survivor-led charitable organization, started in 2014 with the goal of seeing an end to sex trafficking and sexual exploitation in Canada. BridgeNorth’s mission is to restore the inherent dignity of sexually exploited women and girls by meeting their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs through a holistic continuum of care. Universalia was mandated by BridgeNorth to assist with the next steps in setting up the RBM and M&E tools, including for reporting against progress made with Federal and Provincial funding received. Universalia’s methodologic approach was participatory and survivor-centered, and it was guided by trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practices.

The technical assistance and related key activities proposed were divided into the three components. Component 1 validated the logical model prepared previously by Universalia in March 2021 and produced a revised PMF and logic model. Component 2 oriented staff on Federal and Provincial funding commitments and reporting requirements and included a presentation of the refined logic model and PMF and a brainstorming session and work planning exercise with BridgeNorth staff. Component 3 helped situate BridgeNorth’s work within the broader sector and document insights, gaps and promising practices on programming and monitoring. This component included conducting key informant interviews and focus group discussions with staff and various key agencies as well as delivering a ‘Compendium of Promising Practices’ Summary Report.
